An Arts & Culture Blog

This blog began last summer as a project to keep writing after my internship ended last spring. In this internship, I wrote about politics — but as a student majoring in English and music, I ached to write more about books, music, film, plays, art, and the like. Even when I wrote about political events, I found myself gravitating toward the human side of the issues, rather than a straightforward analysis of a particular news item. A bill to ban texting while driving? I described a woman who lost her brother to a distracted driver. Gun rally at the Capitol? I wrote about the gap-toothed six-year-old who picketed all weekend along with her parents.

More than anything else, I love writing about people. I love being the instrument to share their stories and their work. This blog is my editor-free and deadline-free avenue in which I will do just that.
